Slava Schmidt - Single Page Web Application with Scala/Spray.IO
Single Page Web Application (SPA) is not a new concept, but it's adoption steadily grows.
SPA has some benefits and few drawbacks as compared to the traditional Web Applications.
Adoption of SPA as a programming paradigm triggers significant changes in the development process, team structure and application architecture.
And the architectural changes in turn allow to replace traditional server-side frameworks with new lightweight alternatives.
As an example, a Scala/Akka/Spray.IO software stack can be used to program server-side logic of the SPA.
In the talk we will outline pros and cons of the SPA adoption and architectural changes following such an adoption and demonstrate demo application.
Agenda
- SPA History
- Traditional Issues
- Benefits
- Architectural Effects
- Demo
- Review of the source code
Gunther Pippèrr - Developing high performance application with the Oracle NoSQL Database
The Oracle NoSQL Database is a distributed key value store. Based on the proven Oracle Java Berkley DB Oracledeveloped an new database, the Oracle NoSQL.
This new database, also available as free community edition, can be optimal used in high performance applications as persistent cache or for queuing usages.
A easy to use Java API helps to implement the read and write operations on the store with low programming effort. The Java API also allows the developer to choose the transactional behavior directly in his own code.
The data of the store can be defined with the help of Avro or over a simple table construct, but is also possible to use the Key-Value store schema less.
With the new Version 3 the connecting to the store can be encrypted and secured to satisfy high security requirements.
In the talk we will show the general architecture , the first steps to implement the store and how to develop the first lines of code to use the store in your own software.
Agenda:
- Architecture of this distributed key value store
- Transactional behavior
- Overview and tips for the installation and setup
- Writing and reading to the store
- Using AFRO and Table concepts
- Security
- Operational scenarios
About the speakers:
Gunther Pippèrr and Slava Schmidt living in Munich, Germany, the capital of Bavaria, and working since years together in Java and Oracle Projects. For example we developing together a platform to collect smart meter data.
We both are freelancer developer and architect with more than 20 year of experience in the IT industry. Gunther works mostly with the Oracle Database since end of the ’90, Slava as developer and architect with Java and Scala.
